A Call for Blagojevich Impeachment
Dear Senator Righter and Congressman Rose:
I ask that discussion begin on the impeachment of Governor Rod Blagejovich for breach of Article V, Section 21 of the Illinois Constitution.
Governor Blagojevich’s unrestrained use of taxpayer funded aircraft for commuting from his home in Chicago and the seat of his office in Springfield is taxable non-cash income under the Internal Revenue Service Code, and as such, is not part of a salary approved by the Legislature. I also ask that legislation be introduced that immediately grounds the fleet until a full investigation into how it is being used is completed.
I also ask that a Resolution be passed directing Attorney General Lisa Madigan to investigate this misfeasance in the use of taxpayer property by the Governor and his staff.
I also ask that investigations into the use of taxpayer owned vehicles and aircraft by other Executive branch appointees be initiated immediately.
The seat of government is Springfield, and any travel to Springfield by the Governor or his appointees should be deemed commuting to their place of work, unless the General Assembly has specifically approved a different workplace location for that appointee.
Sincerely,
W Thomas Payne
