Perhaps the Governor's Staff, being the geniuses they are and confusing Chicago with Springfield, have also failed to consider that as early as 2003 that the scientific community was already questioning the desirability of pushing ahead with FutureGen as envisioned?

Well, it's nice and all that King Rod congratulated Mattoon on getting the nod on this might-be project with $1.8 BILLION flowing into Illinois from all over the globe, with 5 years of construction jobs and 150 permanent jobs - But where WAS he? Why wasn't he sitting in Mattoon or Tuscola, waiting for the final word?

FutureGen Alliance Announces Site Pick in Mattoon

A burble of excitement fell into an expectant hush as more than 150 people gathered in the Tuscola Community center for the simulcast announcement of the placement of the FutureGen project. The hush turned into a cheer as Mike Mudd, President of the FutureGen Alliance announced “We have chosen Mattoon.”
