As many of those unfortunately caught in the massive debacle that was the switch from Insight to Comcast in Champaign-Urbana know - Comcast sucks. They killed internet connections to 10s of thousands of people without a thought to the effect that would have on a town with so many people relying on the internet for their primary reason for living here - school.

I found an interesting site via the folks over at IlliniPundit.com this morning, a web site that tracks political funding filings from various candidates, so I looked up my "representative" in the House, Tim Johnson. His track record in raising money for the 2008 election so far, just a little over $13K.

The Champaign City Council is debating whether or not to repeal or amend its ordinance that forces landlords to accept tenants with Section 8 vouchers. The argument for the ordinance from Marcy Dodds bears merit – that the poor and the elderly who rely on the vouchers to get decent housing at an affordable price are potentially harmed if a landlord will not accept the voucher.
